Things one learns on a snow day:

1.) Patience is a virtue - after waiting for three hours in an online waiting room for BoSox tickets, I finally was able to buy 4 tickets to two different games in June. Yeah!

2.) There is a reason that automatic dish detergent is different than the regular dish detergent - that reason is that regular detergent in a dishwasher makes lots o' bubbles! (Sorry I don't have pics, Kiki. I am a failure in many ways!)

3.) Southerners are a wee bit crazy - a little bit of ice and snow makes their world come to a screeching halt. I know they aren't used to this kind of weather, but it is still funny to watch.

4.) John Rhys-Meyers is ridiculously hot - Okay, I didn't learn this today, but I've spent the day watching The Tudors and I've been reminded of his hotness.

Life so far ... this year

I'm working on my waistline this year. I am determined to look fantastic (or a lot closer than where I am now) for my 30th.

I decided to do Weight Watchers because I have had some good success with it in the past (although I've fallen off the wagon and gained the weight right back), but this time I am serious. Thirty is a few short months away, and I would like to greet it weighing about 40 pounds less. I have just started Week 3, and I am down 7 pounds!! It's not amazing, but it does feel good. I hope it continues in this manner. I need to get my rear to the gym more often and do some more exercise!!! That should make a difference.

Today I went "skiing" on the Nordic Track for 30 minutes (that was TORTURE!!! and my legs are still sore form it!) and then walked with Amy and Ruby (B's best friend) for an hour. It was great fitness, and I feel energized. I want to get up early tomorrow to do more Nordic, but I'm afraid my legs will be too sore. We'll see how it goes in the morning.

Here's where I would be in hell ... The news isn't all bad!

Creative Solutions to Everyday Problems

I have a confession.

I love tights.

I cannot resist buying them when I see them. It's almost a compulsion. (Like the sunshine yellow and fuchsia that I bought yesterday.) But they are practical too!!!

The problem is I have way to many of them now. And, because tights are so bulky and stockings are so delicate, they don't really work in drawers. So, I put my massive genius to work (cough, cough!) and thought of a solution.

May I present, dear readers, the Tight Space Maker!
(Heehee ... get it? Tight space maker?!)

Ta da!!!

I bought a cheap (12.99) pocket organizer thing at Target and used it for my tights and stockings. The great thing is that it keeps my leg apparel free from snags and makes them easy to see! Now I know what colors I have at any given time. And it takes up no space because it hangs on the back of my door.

~~~~~~~~~~
The next creation doesn't solve an everyday problem ... unless you call the need for an adult beverage an everyday problem.
We had some fresh frozen blueberries handy so we made blueberry vanilla martinis. Mmmmmm .... mucho tasty!!!
And pretty too!
Belated Holiday Pics
I suck. I haven't blogged in a while. So here are some pics.
The snow on the pines in NH. It was minus 7 out. Joy.
Two of my beautiful nieces.
Bailey drinking it up and keeping warm in NH.
The Christmas tree at the chalet.
Fires are toasty.
Snow covered trees in the mountains.
Snow covered trees are beautiful ... but cold!
Looking up, hoping to see blue sky and the end of snow.
Bailey, nestled all snug in her bed.
