And the chaperoning continues

After visiting Fort Pulaski (I had never been before. It was pretty cool!) early this morning, we packed up the kiddos and drove towards Atlanta. We stopped outside of Macon to visit some ancient ruins and then finally got into Atlanta around 8pm due to traffic and construction.

This are the scars from the Civil War battle. The Union army beat this fort to hell.
The battle lasted only 30 hours before the Confederates surrendered.

Some of the shells are still lodged in the brick.

See?

The approach to the burial grounds in Macon.

The entrance to the mound.

The sky was beautiful today.

The view from atop the mound.
